In turn a Medieval château, palace of the kings of France and then a museum since 1793, thee Louvre is one of the leading museums in Europe, with one of the richest collections in the world. Its collections are organized into eight major departments: Oriental Antiquities; Egyptian Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities; Paintings; Sculptures; Objets d’art; Graphic arts; Islamic arts, with two additional sections: African, Oceanian and American arts and the History of the Louvre. The Louvre Museum public institution was attached to the Eugène Delacroix Museum in 2004.

Car park: an underground car park is accessible via Avenue du Général Lemonier, everyday from 7am to 11pm.
The Louvre Museum is accessible to disabled visitors.
Opening times
The museum is open everyday from 9am to 6pm, except Tuesdays, 1st January, 1st May and 25th December.
Evening opening until 10pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Permanent collections: €9, ticket valid on the same day for the Louvre Museum, excluding exhibitions in the Hall Napoléon, and the Eugène-Delacroix Museum; €6 for evening opening (from 6pm to 9.45pm)
Temporary exhibitions in the Hall Napoléon: €9.50
Joint ticket providing admission to the permanent collections and all temporary exhibitions at the Louvre and the Eugène-Delacroix Museum: €13; €11 for evening opening (from 6pm to 9.45pm)
