Overlooking the ruins of the famous abbey of Port-Royal-des-Champs in the Chevreuse valley, the museum is housed in the building that the Solitaires intellectual group had constructed in 1651-1652 to receive some of the students from the Petites Ecoles. Dedicated to the history of Jansenism, of which the abbey was one of the centres, it contains a large number of old engravings and books and several paintings by Philippe de Champaigne and his studio.
