King Louis XIV loved visiting his fruit and vegetable garden where exotic plants as well as more common species flourished.
The royal herbarium became a sort of agronomical laboratory that drew admiration from other European courts. The garden also supplied living models for academicians, illustrators and engravers for their learned works about the splendours of Louis XIV’s herbarium.
